What was life like on the Finnish archipelago? How was to navigate in the day of Vikings? What kind of wonders can be found below the waves of the Baltic Sea?

For the 11:15 starting family Treasure Hunt the pre-registration by phone is needed. For the 14:30 treasure hunt you can register during the same day in the info desk at the Archipelago museum (no phone registrations).

Program:

11-12:15: Navigational Treasure Hunt! Take a step back into the past and explore how people from Prehistory to the present have navigated their lakes, rivers, and seas.
Maritime archaeologist Christopher Olsen has heard rumors of a treasure on Pentala Island, but needs a trusty crew of navigators to help him explore the island and find the treasure! In this program kids and adults will learn about the development of navigational techniques as well as make and use their own navigational instruments! The Navigational Treasure Hunt is best suited for ages 7-12.
Reservations are required: 2.7.-11.8. tue-sun 10-17, tel. 358 43 8252 641. Maximum group size: 8 children. Number of adults with children is not limited. There must be at least one adult with a child.

12:30-13 Guided tour: Everyday Life at the Fisherman"s Homestead. This tour introduces you to the way of life on Espoo"s archipelago for the people who used to live on the Nyholm archipelago homestead.

13:15 Maritime Archaeology Quarter: Ever had a burning question about Viking Shipbuilding techniques, what a maritime archaeologist does, or what even is maritime archaeology is? Well now is your chance! Come learn about maritime archaeology from real, live maritime archaeologist, Christopher Olsen!

13:30-14 Guided tour: Gurli"s house.
The guided tour of the home museum takes a dive into the realities of life in the archipelago and introduces you to the fisherman Arvid Nyholm and his wife Gurli. Gurli"s personal items have now been brought back to their original locations in the house.
The guided tour is best suitable for adults. The maximum capacity of each tour is 12 persons. Buy the ticket from the Archipelago Museum info: 7 € / 5 € / 0 €.
